New Partnerships Support Quality Care at UM Shore Regional Health

In recent months, UM Shore Regional Health has recent established key partnerships with physician practices in oncology/hematology, obstetrics/gynecology and pathology.

Maryland Oncology Hematology, Inc., providers Dr. Adam Goldrich, Dr. Benjamin Bridges and Dr. David Weng joined UM Shore Medical Group – Oncology in September 2021 following the retirement of Dr. Mary De Shields.

Dr. Benjamin Bridges

Dr. Goldrich, who serves as Medical Director – SMG Oncology, has clinical specialties in bladder, breast, colorectal, esophageal, kidney, liver, lung, head and neck, pancreatic and stomach cancers, leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

Dr. Bridges’ specialties include gastrointestinal oncology and pancreatic, prostate, genitourinary, lung and thoracic cancers.

Dr. David Weng

Dr. Weng’s clinical specialties are breast, lung and thoracic cancers; gastrointestinal oncology; lymphoma; and chronic leukemia and multiple myeloma.

As of this past January, the Birthing Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton entered into a partnership with OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG). OBHG providers working with our UM the Birthing Center staff and with UM SMG – Women’s Health providers are: Valinda Nwadike, MD, Samir Khanjar, MD, Ted Harris, MD, Mitra Foroogh-Nassiraee, MD, and Rohini Boddu, MD.

The addition of these new team members is designed to provide timely, patient-centered care to our soon-to-be new moms and families by reducing delays in emergent OB/GYN care, improving outcomes, reducing wait times and increasing patient satisfaction.

UM SRH also has entered into a partnership with Drs Hicken, Cranley & Taylor, PA (HCT) for internal pathology services. HCT is taking over for Chesapeake Pathology Associates (CPA), whose providers recently retired.

Affiliated with UM SRH since the 1990s, CPA included Dr. Reinhardt Sahmel, the late Dr. Harold Bauer and Dr. David Danner. Dr. Sahmel will continue working part-time with HCT. Dr. Marcia Wills, formerly with CPA, will continue her work here at UM SRH as HCT’s medical director for SRH lab services in Cambridge, Chestertown, Easton and Queenstown.

As the largest and most diverse private practice pathology group in Maryland, HCT provides the highest caliber pathology services. In addition to anatomic diagnostic skills, HCT pathologists offer subspecialty expertise in clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank/transfusion medicine, microbiology and coagulation; and anatomic pathology expertise, including gastrointestinal, gynecologic, urologic, hematologic, pediatric, orthopedic, soft tissue, cytologic and dermatopathology.
